The Toad & The Mushroom
The Toad and The Mushroom was an experimental project between John Neff on guitar and vocals and Greg Windeler on Bass, later including Larry Bellehumeur on drums and Jack Cardinell on electric 12-string and vocals, that was active from 1970 to 1972, though John and Greg did some concerts as a duo in 1969. Early works included “Symphony #1 in D Maj for Electric Guitar and Bass”, “Space Opera”, “Concerto for Five Cymbals and Pocket Change”. An album of songs with vocals was recorded in 1970 and early '71, titled, “Obscenity In Its Purest Form”. Contrary to some public thought at the time, neither John nor Greg were the Toad or the Mushroom. That remains a mystery...
